VOCATION

1. Core Meaning

Vocation is the divine calling of every believer to live faithfully before God in all areas of life—work, relationships, service, and daily responsibilities.

It is not limited to ministry roles; it is the whole‑life calling to glorify God with the gifts, opportunities, and responsibilities He provides.

It includes:

• God’s call to belong to Christ

• God’s call to holiness and discipleship

• God’s call to serve others through work and gifting

• God’s call to specific roles (family, church, society)

• God’s call to mission in everyday life

Vocation is not primarily about what you do—it is about who you are in Christ and how you live that identity in the world.

2. Biblical Foundations

Ephesians 4:1

“Walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.” (Summary: Vocation begins with God’s call to belong to Him.)

“Let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him.” (Summary: God assigns each believer a place and purpose.)

“Use whatever gift you have received to serve others.” (Summary: Vocation expresses itself through Spirit‑given gifts.)
