Christianity Explained Statement of Faith
1. God
We believe in one true and living God, eternal, holy, loving, and sovereign. God exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—three persons, one God. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things and is worthy of worship, obedience, and trust.
Scripture (NIV):
Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:5–6; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Psalm 90:2; Revelation 4:11
Summary: Scripture teaches that there is one God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Spirit, who created all things and reigns forever.
2. The Bible
We believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word, given through human authors by the Holy Spirit. It is trustworthy and authoritative for faith and life, revealing God’s character, humanity’s need, and God’s plan of salvation through Jesus Christ.
Scripture (NIV):
2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21; Psalm 19:7–9; John 17:17; Hebrews 4:12
Summary: Scripture comes from God, teaches truth, corrects error, and equips believers to live in a way that pleases Him.
3. Humanity
We believe human beings are created in the image of God, with inherent dignity and purpose. Through sin, humanity has fallen and is separated from God, unable to save itself. All people are in need of God’s grace and forgiveness.
Scripture (NIV):
Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12; Isaiah 59:2; Ephesians 2:1–3
Summary: All people are created by God but are affected by sin, which separates them from Him and leaves them in need of salvation.
4. Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, revealed God perfectly, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to heaven, and will return in glory.
Scripture (NIV):
John 1:1, 14; Colossians 2:9; Matthew 1:18–23; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Acts 1:9–11
Summary: Jesus is God in human flesh, the perfect Saviour whose death and resurrection make salvation possible.
5. Salvation
We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ, not earned by good works. Through Christ, believers are forgiven, made right with God, adopted into His family, and given new life.
Scripture (NIV):
Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 5:1; Galatians 2:16; John 1:12; Titus 3:4–7
Summary: Salvation comes by trusting in Jesus alone and is the result of God’s grace, not human effort.
6. The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God and active in the world today. The Spirit brings conviction of sin, new birth, dwells within believers, empowers holy living, equips the Church, and produces spiritual fruit.
Scripture (NIV):
John 14:16–17; John 16:8; Romans 8:9–11; 1 Corinthians 12:4–7; Galatians 5:22–23
Summary: The Holy Spirit works in and through believers to transform lives and build the Church.
7. The Church
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, made up of all who belong to Jesus. The Church is called to worship God, proclaim the gospel, make disciples, love one another, and serve the world.
Scripture (NIV):
1 Corinthians 12:12–13; Ephesians 1:22–23; Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 2:42–47; John 13:34–35
Summary: God calls believers into a spiritual family to grow together and reflect Christ to the world.
8. Christian Living
We believe followers of Jesus are called to live lives shaped by love, obedience, repentance, prayer, generosity, and justice. Good works are the result of salvation, not the cause, and are done for God’s glory.
Scripture (NIV):
Romans 12:1–2; Micah 6:8; James 2:17; John 15:5; Colossians 3:17; Matthew 5:16
Summary: Christians are called to live transformed lives that reflect Christ in everyday actions.
9. The Return of Christ and Future Hope
We believe Jesus Christ will return visibly and bodily to judge the living and the dead. God will fully defeat evil, restore creation, and establish eternal righteousness. Those who belong to Christ will live forever with God.
Scripture (NIV):
Matthew 24:30; Acts 17:31; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Revelation 21:1–5; 2 Peter 3:13
Summary: History is moving toward God’s promised future, where justice, renewal, and eternal life are fully realised.
10. Unity and Charity
We affirm the unity of all believers in Christ. While Christians may disagree on secondary matters, we seek to hold firmly to essential truths, practise humility, and pursue love in all things.
Scripture (NIV):
John 17:20–23; Ephesians 4:3–6; Romans 14:1–4; 1 Corinthians 13:1–7; Colossians 3:12–14
Summary: Christians are called to stand united in Christ, showing love and grace even in disagreement.
