THE TRINITY

1. Core Meaning

The Trinity is the Christian doctrine that the one true God eternally exists as three distinct Persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—each fully God, equal in glory, united in essence, and inseparable in being.

It includes:

One God in essence, nature, and being

Three Persons—Father, Son, and Spirit

Equality of deity, power, and glory

Distinction of persons without division

Unity of will, purpose, and action

Eternal relationships within the Godhead

The Trinity is not a contradiction—it is the mystery of the one God who eternally exists in three Persons.

2. Biblical Foundations

Deuteronomy 6:4

“The LORD our God, the LORD is one.” (Summary: God is one in essence.)

Matthew 28:19

“Baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Summary: One name, three Persons.)

John 1:1–3

“The Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (Summary: The Son is distinct from the Father yet fully divine.)

2 Corinthians 13:14

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ… the love of God… the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.” (Summary: All three Persons act in unity toward believers.)
