THE FAITH

Definition:

The Christian Meaning of “The Faith”

In Christianity, “The Faith” refers not merely to personal belief, but to the whole content of Christian truth, the apostolic teaching handed down, and the living trust in God that shapes a believer’s life.

It is both:

  • something believed (the body of Christian doctrine)

  • the act of believing (trust, allegiance, obedience)

In Scripture, “the faith” is a technical term referring to:

  • A body of truth preserved by the Church

  • A gift given by God

  • A life lived in allegiance to Christ

  • A shared confession uniting believers

  • A trust in God’s character and promises
