MEEKNESS

1. Definition

Meekness is a spiritual quality characterized by humility, gentleness, and strength under control.

It is not weakness, but power submitted to God’s will.

The meek person does not assert themselves aggressively but trusts God to act justly, responding to provocation with patience, grace, and self-restraint.

2. Biblical Foundations

A. Old Testament

Psalm 37:11
“But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.”

“Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people who were on the face of the earth.”

“A bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench; he will faithfully bring forth justice.”

Meekness is linked to trust, gentleness, and moral strength.

B. New Testament

Matthew 11:29
“Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
