ASCENSION

1. Core Meaning

The Ascension refers to Jesus Christ’s bodily return to heaven forty days after His resurrection, where He now reigns in glory at the right hand of the Father.

It means:

• Christ’s earthly mission is complete

• Jesus is enthroned as King and Lord • He intercedes for His people

• He sends the Holy Spirit to empower the Church

• He will return again in glory

The Ascension is not Jesus “leaving” His people, but Jesus reigning for His people.
